Bayview Garden has been in the business of loving and nurturing plants for over 30 years and has been on the forefront of plant education and conservation for just as long. As a multi generational pursuit, the roots run deep and the care for the connection between plants and people even deeper. This care has humbly cultivated community and places this connection at the center of all Bayview Garden has created.
From fulfilling garden dreams, to teaching community classes, to cultivating deep horticultural knowledge far and wide, the Bayview Garden family is devoted to keeping the integrity of the natural world top of mind and especially the Whidbey Island ecosystem forever in our hearts and on the land.
We look forward to seeing you!
Seasonal Happenings
Spring in the Garden
As your garden wakes up from the long winter there is much to do to ensure a successful gardening season ahead. Here are some projects to help you get started:
Sow indoor seeds that could use a head start such as tomatoes, peppers, onions, broccoli, cabbages, cauliflower, leeks and lettuces
Sow Outdoor seeds- plants that don’t mind getting a start outside before the last frost. These include snap peas, sweet peas, radishes, kale, arugula and potatoes
Improve your soil! Amend and mulch your garden beds with rich, organic matter that will encourage healthy plant growth
Cut back perennial grasses
Prevent slugs and snails from proliferating by setting out traps and bait such as Sluggo or copper tape
